Project title:

IMPROVEMENT IN DAIRY QUALITY AND PRODUCTIVITY IN THE REGION OF SAMTSKHE JAVAKHETI (“LESSER CAUCASUS”)

 

Objectives:

Increasing farmers incomes and at the economic development of the dairy sector

Outcomes: 

- On a technical level first, it may be noted signs of improvement in the management of the cow diet: the renovation of hayfields, the adjustment stages of hay, the realization of the first silages, the use of DDGS and beets, building barns and watering in these shelters 


- On the organizational level, the periodic meetings farmers / public powers / partners of sector (network) uncork in concerted actions and groups exchange on the possibility of purchases and equipment in common. Finally, breeders committee already raises the questions of the training of the young people and wonders about the relations to be established with the mass-market retailing.

However, the impact is still limited because only a hundred farmers is directly involved (400 made sensitive), but their technical and financial commitment is already significant.

Assist Woman farmers in citrus production

Objectives:

Mobile Social Network - mTbilisi

Objectives:

Assist development of mobile application concepts;  Development of “mTbilisi” concept – base for development of future web portal enabling development of online collaboration environment among various stakeholders: school graduates, students, faculty, academia, scientists, SMEs, experts, HR managers, investors, media and public servants and serve as progress monitor for ongoing projects and career development of various human resources through while becoming hub of various social networks; Attract investments for innovation;

Outcomes: 

The process of mobile application concepts development is enhanced through first hekatons organized in universities of Georgia by GBDC; Mobile Finance Eurasia launched beta version of mobile payment system www.kerketi.ge designed by Singular group and became part of 50 innovative companies of the world at Helsinki Innovation and Investment Fair in 2011; Solconenergy received 10 000 USD for startup investment in solar energy project and became part of top 20 innovative company list at Helsinki Innovation and Investment Fair in 2011;  More than 500 hundred youth were attracted to more than 10 ICT development events;  More than 15 SMEs received consulting services through new innovative methodology of online collaboration set by GBDC in frames of project.

Project title:

Information, Knowledge and Business Fair for IDP Youth Employment in Tserovani and Tsilkani Settlements 

Objectives:

To link IDP youth with training centers, private sector companies and civil society organizations

To inform IDP youth on job criteria of the current labor market

To attract private sector companies for their participation in the project

Organize Education and Jobs Placement Forum and aware public of IDPs problems.

Target group of the project are IDP youth aged 16-25 years from Tserovani and Tsilkani settlements.

Project title:

Labor Market Survey

Objectives:

The main goal of the project was to determine labor market demand in Georgia in terms of vocational professions with a focus on a construction business. The survey was based on personal interviews with businesses operating in Tbilisi, Gori, Kutaisi and Batumi.

602 companies have been inquired in targeted cities of Georgia and the database in MS Access has been created.  

 

 

 

 

Project title:

Assistance in Popularization of Construction Professions

Objectives:

The aim of the project is to assist the USAID funded VEP in Georgia in popularizing vocational training in general and construction trades specifically, by providing their trained graduates with job-seeker support and information on registering businesses in Georgia, and by managing and monitoring VEP s paid internship program for trainee graduates.

Objectives:

The aim of the project was to train and recruit the IDPs from recent Georgian-Russian conflict zone (South Ossetia). in business development skills, service plus, handicraft and housing and construction works.

Humanitarian Aid to IDPs

Objectives:

To aim of the project was to support Internally Displaced People (IDPs) in Tbilisi, especially pregnant women and infants, after the Russian–Georgian conflict in 2008 by providing them with food and hygiene products.

Objectives:

The main goal of the program was to establish GBDC Caucasia Akhaltsikhe Office to develop the capacity of local youth to consult entrepreneurs of Samtskhe-Javakheti in business development issues.

Regional Student Consulting Program Supporting Business Development in Adjara Region

Objectives:

The aim of the project was to replicate the approved model of a student consulting project in Adjara earlier implemented in Tbilisi. Under the project it was planned to implement a program aimed at developing a link between university students and the business community and providing students with experiential learning opportunities while working with real clients and real companies within the business community.

Project title:

Professional Development Training and Recruiting Services for Youth

Objectives:

The aim of the project was to train senior and master students of universities and business schools in professional business development skills and on-job training during 6 months in Tbilisi, Batumi and Akhaltsikhe. In addition, Youth Recruiting and Advice Web Window was added to existing web-site of GBDC Caucasia.

Project title:

Knowledge, Attitude and Practice of Selected Health Topics in Kakheti Region   

Objectives:

The aim of the project was to conduct a follow-up social research to evaluate the health education campaign carried out by international NGO Merlin. The survey was conducted in 8 districts of Kakheti region and target group was mothers of children under 5 and their spouses.

Entrepreneurial Skills Transfer to Farmers in Kakheti and Samtskhe-Javakheti

 

Objectives:

The aim of the project was to deliver business trainings in the regions of Georgia (Kakheti and Samtskhe-Javakheti). Trainings had been conducted on following topics: starting own business, financial planning, business plan development, access to financing, managing small business, product promotion, cost accounting in agriculture.

The aim of the project was to organize a festival at Black Sea Cost of Georgia to facilitate tourism development on the Black Sea coast in Georgia, attract more businesses to the region for local business promotion and assist local rural population to generate more income through agro tourism development activities
